New Referee Training
If you are at least 13 years old and interested in becoming a referee for Big Country Soccer, we will be hosting a field session in Abilene on Saturday, February 20th from 9 am-12:30 pm at our fields on the west side of Wylie High School.
You will need to register online at https://ntxreferees.omgtsys.com/
Create an OMS account and in the "I want to" dropdown box select "Register for a Clinic or Fitness Test". The type is "Referee - Entry Grassroots hybrid". The number is "SA-103-0221-EHGr".
There is a fee for the certification and you will need to complete the online training sessions BEFORE the field session on the 20th.

5 v 5 Guidelines:
Minimum of 5 players; maximum of 9 players per team
Every team is guaranteed 3 games
Games are 30 minutes-two 15 minute halves
Home team must provide game ball: U6-U8 will use a size 3 and U9-U19 will use a size 4.
Away team must change jerseys with color conflict
Goal keepers are permitted outside the box, but cannot use their hands outside the box
No Punting from goal keepers
No offsides
Unlimited substitutions on a dead ball situation
Kick-ins on the side
Goal-kicks and corner kicks
All kicks are indirect. Opponents must be 5 yards from ball on all re-starts.
Kick offs can go backwards.
Fields are 35 x 50 yards, keeper box will be 10 x 20 yards
All players must sign waiver prior to playing
3 points for a win, 1 point for a tie, 0 points for a loss
Winner in each age division will get a medal
Goals are 9 x 15 or 9 x 12
Penalty kicks are 6 yards
Red card disqualifies player from the remainder of tournament

PK Shootout (5 shooters for PK), if still tied go to sudden death shootout
If the score is tied in elimination rounds, the game will go straight to penalty kicks.
5 shooters from the penalty shot (6 yards). If still tied, game goes to sudden death shootout.

HOW TO GET STARTED:
1. Requirement - you must be 13 or older
2. Sign up for a GRASSROOTS COURSE (takes approximately 4-5 hours to
complete. The first part of this course is done online (in the comfort of your home). Please complete this course within a 5 day (or less) period of time once you sign up. There will be a deadline when the course will be closed.
Once it is closed, you will not have access to it.
3. Once you complete your grassroots online portion of the course, you
will automatically be enrolled in the GRASSROOTS FIELD SESSION. This second part of the course is done IN PERSON. This session will be 3.5 hours.
Note: you must complete your grassroots online course a minimum of 72 hours before your grassroots session is scheduled to start. If you haven't completed your grassroots online training 72 hours prior to the start of the field session, you will be removed from the field session. We will need everyone to have completed the training so they can focus on field training information.
Understand, that the Grassroots Referee course is a two-step process:
GRASSROOTS COURSE (done online) GRASSROOTS FIELD SESSION - done in person at a specific venue. You must complete BOTH in order to be registered as a 2021 USSF Referee
